Hi, I'm Emmy!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I'm a cat mama, Florida girl, avocado lover (got one tattooed on my arm to prove it,) and until a few years ago, thought I loved cheese WAY too much to ever go vegan.
Growing up, I was a staunch vegetarian and mini environmental and animal rights activist to the MAX (like, I called the county sheriff at age 6 to report illegal hunting on our property.)
And then, college happened...and as a recently retired ballerina, I needed a physical outlet, and chose the gym. I became a TOTAL gym rat. The kind who drinks water out of gallon jugs and adds protein powder to everything? That was me.
During this gainz-obsessed phase, I threw my vegetarian ways to the wind and started eating meat, caring only about my protein intake.I was a SLAVE to My Fitness Pal and remember crying after an Olive Garden dinner, because I'd gone 15 grams "over" my carbs for the day and hadn't "hit my protein" goals. It was a weird, bad time.
Do you know what it feels like to live in cognitive dissonance? Knowing deep in your conscious you should go vegan...knowing your habits are contributing to animal cruelty and climate change, yet you can't seem the make the switch? I do!Do you love the idea and ethics of veganism, but feel overwhelmed at the idea of the Googling, the meal planning, the explaining to judgy friends and fam, the ostracizing yourself from social events and holidays?
That was me! I know how it feels.
Thanks to educating myself and then investing in a meal plan, I made the jump to veganism one weekend in May four years ago, and never looked back. Almost immediately, I was more energized than I had been in YEARS (even as a grad student!), and within a month my blood work was perfect - no more anemia and B12 deficiencies, lowered cholesterol, improved triglycerides, and thyroid hormones. I've spent the last four years learning and perfecting the how and what to eat, finding ways to keep (and grow) my gains as a bodybuilder, get my protein in with NO struggle, and explaining and communicate my choices effectively to friends and family, in a non judgy way that opens them to this lifestyle, instead of creating conflicts. I've learned how to stand loud and proud in my veganism, without being obnoxious.
I've helped dozens of clients, close friends and family members, and thousands of followers learn how to go and stay vegan, lose weight, get healthier, and never feel like they're missing out. I'm SO happy you're here to do the same!
Whether you're just venturing into this way of life (in which case, might I suggest you start HERE with my starter-vegan post!) or an established vegan who wants to make your way of life a little easier, fitter, and more delicious, minus the judginess, you're in the right spot.
